About Insultex House Wrap

INSULTEX HOUSE WRAP® IS
WATER RESISTANT, AIR RESISTANT & UV RESISTANT

Insultex House Wrap® is Water and Moisture-Resistant, Air and Wind-Resistant, and UV-Resistant. Insultex protects against water intrusion that could get behind the exterior cladding which in turn can cause mold, mildew and rotting. Insultex will increase comfort in a building structure by reducing drafts and increasing its efficiency. UV inhibitors are blended into the polymeric material to protect it from harmful ultraviolet degradation.

Insultex House Wrap® is a unique product, as it provides valuable enhancements to any structure. Insultex House Wrap® is comprised of two components. The first being the outer layer, which is a cross laminated polyolefin open mesh nonwoven. The second layer consists of the polymeric evacuated closed-cell structure. It offers the following benefits:

High tear resistance.

Increased burst strength.
Breathability.
Excellent Drainage properties.
Low elongation.
Excellent dimensional stability.

This first component of Insultex House Wrap® provides the water vapor barrier between the outer environmental harsh weather conditions and the building’s interior. It consists of a thin polymeric layer with the ability to protect the wall structure from wind, air and moisture. It is able to provide practical answers to tough environmental challenges in the construction industry worldwide. Construction material manufacturers use this fabric as reinforcement in a variety of construction-related products, such as roofing composites and radiant barriers.

The second and key component to Insultex House Wrap® is our proprietary insulation Insultex™. By adhering a 1 mm layer of Insultex™ to the above-mentioned open mesh nonwoven, the result is a house wrap with an R-Value of 6.

Skeptics have repeatedly challenged our R-6 value claim as being impossible to achieve with something that thin. The science behind our product has been proven multiple times using different testing methods. One of which was to identify the structure of Insultex™. It is comprised of a countless number of evacuated cells which create a three-dimensional tortuous path through which heat flows. (Definition of tortuous: Having or marked by repeated twists, bends, or turns : winding or twisting).

Insultex House Wrap® testing was conducted by an independent accredited laboratory using an accreditation agency-approved modified ASTM-C518 protocol. This ASTM test method is most commonly used to derive an accurate measurement an insulation’s effectiveness. The ASTM C-518 Modified test method can generate a fairly accurate R-Value (thermal resistance). With these R-value measurements, one can demonstrate that a particular material is able to meet federal regulations for insulation materials, as well as show customers how a certain material may be superior to others with respect to insulation R-values.

Contractors & builders who use Insultex House Wrap® have the ability to not only add a water vapor, air and wind barrier, but add an additional R-6 insulation to a structure. All of this is accomplished by applying Insultex House Wrap® the same way other house wraps are attached to a structure. Siding contractors can now offer their customers an additional R-Value by simply applying Insultex House Wrap® to the existing structure. Builders who have to meet more stringent R-Value requirements can simply add Insultex House Wrap® to their wall structure and immediately add an additional R-6 insulation value.

Recently, we experienced a hailstorm that required the complete re-siding of our home. At that time we decided to use Insultex House Wrap because of its R-3 value rating. Since its installation, we have seen a reduction in heating and air conditioning costs and believe the wrap also has reduced the annoyance of outside noise.
Thank you Innovative Designs, Inc.

New building codes were going to cause me to have to redesign the way I build. Using Insultex House Wrap® now allows me to meet required insulation values by simply applying the house wrap.

The energy savings that my customers will realize has made it their preferred insulated house wrap, hands down!

As a home builder, I need to add a water vapor barrier to protect my structures. It’s a no-brainer to add an R-Value in the same process.

I am a building contractor, and I wanted to comment on the quality of your Insultex house wrap. Recently, a customer requested that I install your product on their home. I was very impressed that your product was lightweight, pliable, water-resistant, easy to install, and in addition had an R-3 value. I will use Insultex in the future.
